Public Health England, a division of the Britain’s Department of Health, conducted a study and found that e-cigarettes are about 95% safer than smoking.

Other noted findings

  • nearly half the population (44.8%) don’t realise e-cigarettes are much less harmful than smoking
  • there is no evidence so far that e-cigarettes are acting as a route into smoking for children or non-smokers. Additionally, very few adults and young people who have never smoked are becoming regular e-cigarette users (less than 1% in each group).
  • e-cigarettes could be a cheap way to reduce smoking in deprived areas where there remains a high proportion of smokers

British American Tobacco (BAT) even admitted that the sale of e-cigarettes could benefit their customers’ health
