A Senate subcommittee heard testimony for and against SB 140

The California Committee on Governmental Organization met to hear proponents and opponents of SB 140.

SB 140 would

• Define vapor products as “tobacco products”
• Prohibit vaping where smoking is currently banned
• Prohibit vaping in some private residences, group homes, and transitional housing

In part because of the large group of opponents from the vaping community showing up to the hearing, this bill is not going to get traction in this committee. However, that does not mean it won’t be picked up by another legislator and persued in another committee. We have a victory, but we still need to be on our toes.
