A win in North Dakota!

A win in North Dakota! According to ecigarettereviewed.com, lawmakers in North Dakota have passed a bill that both bans the sale and use of e-cigarettes by minors and classifies e-cigarettes as a non-tobacco product. Even though the national trend may be to regulate e-cigs as tobacco products, tt sounds like North Dakota lawmakers are using common sense rather than taking money to pass laws! […]

Rant about freedom and corruption

I was recently reminded there are new vapers every day and they are not immediately aware of the fight against unreasonable legislation. Since 2010, New York State (I don’t even feel right capitalizing that word anymore) assemblywoman Linda Rosenthal, has been determined to ban or restrict our use of ecigs. 2014 and 2015 brought Kemp hannon onto the scene from the Sate Senate. Why […]

The president of CASAA’s 6th vapeversary wish

So tomorrow is my 6-year vaporversary . . . yes, I am one of the old ones who, at the drop of the hat, will tell you about the old days of vaping when we were busy trying to make ridiculously bad cigalikes work halfway decently and failing that, started modifying crazy things like flashlights to make devices. grin emoticon You’d think that after […]

Reminder about the grandfather clause

You may remember back in December, we issued a Call to Action to urge lawmakers to change the grandfather date in the Tobacco Control Act so that all of the life saving vapor products currently on the market can stay on the market. We’ve had over 4000 members take action, but we need thousands more. This is still an active Call to Action! If […]

Bill updated to exempt vape shops from vape ban

The new bill (AB 2595) will exempt vape shops from this law, however it would still classify vaping as smoking in New York thus making it illegal to vape where smoking is prohibited. Go here to send a message to your local legislator through CASAA.

Grandfather clause please

On a good note, CASAA.org posted this; “Just before Thanksgiving, Rep. John Boehner (House Speaker), Rep. Kevin McCarthy (House Majority Leader), and Rep. Fred Upton (Chairman of the House Energy & Commerce Committee) cosigned a letter to the Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services, Sylvia Burwell. The full text of this appears below. In this letter they asked the FDA to […]

FDA proposes regulation of the electronic cigarette industry

In April of 2014, the FDA proposed some rather unreasonable legislation to regulate the vaping industry. Various cities and states have passed legislation. Our home state of New York, where we have been actively in the ears of politicians, seems to be amongst those that are taking money to pass vaping restrictions. There is no way to for us to keep up on all […]

NYS trying to ban the sale of e-liquid

Again from CASAA.org; Assembly Bill 296 & Senate Bill 722 would redefine a taxed “tobacco product” to include “e-cigarette cartridges,” subjecting them to New York State’s 75% wholesale tax on “tobacco products.” You can voice your opinion on this here Bill (AB 635) would prohibit the sale of all bottled refill liquids. While there is an exemption provided for instate manufactures that may allow […]

NYS legislator wants to classify vaping as smoking

The legislation season is upon is again. Let’s start by letting you know what CASAA.org has alerted us to: Assemblywoman Rosenthal has introduced a bill (AB 1496) which would deceptively redefine “smoking” under New York’s smoke-free air law to include vaping. AB 1496 would not only senselessly prohibit vaping in hundreds of thousands of indoor and outdoor areas in New York, but it would […]
