E-cigarettes may be a gateway product away from and not toward cigarettes.

Although the CDC is trying to spin the truth, their own survey indicates that electronic cigarettes are not a gateway to smoking.

In their survey, the CDC found that “while current use of e-cigarettes (in high school students) increased from 1.5% in 2011 to 13.4% in 2014, current use of real cigarettes declined from 15.8% to 9.2%.

The survey also illustrates that when you take into account all nicotine use including hookahs, pipes, cigarettes, snus and e-cigarettes, the amount of nicotine users has remained constant from 2011 to 2014.

So, if e-cigarettes were a gateway to smoking, would we not have more overall cigarette and nicotine use amongst American youth?

If we can’t seem to discourage youth from trying nicotine products, wouldn’t we rather they use e-cigarettes which have been shown to be at least 95% safer than combustible products?
